Are We Too Hard On Weiner?

Many parents were shocked to find this screensaver from Congressman Weiner on their children's computers.

One of the more prominent members of Congress is once again being exposed to renewed public scrutiny. Only a couple of days ago Congressman Anthony Weiner announced that his Twitter account had been hacked and photos purported to be his bulging underwear had been widely circulated. Weiner’s weiner had gone viral.

The mainstream media tried their best to deflect the Weiner story, although a few critics said he was not handling it very well. Republicans were less sympathetic and told him to just beat it. It was a Weiner cover up that had come much too late.

When it was announced that Weiner would be featured on this week’s Congressional Edition of To Catch a Predator, the other ball had truly dropped.

Today, the clearly deflated Weiner was once again in front of the media to finally admit that he was indeed a cyber wanker spanker. As new, explicit photos and a half a dozen female recipients of Weinergrams surfaced there was no hiding the extent of the growing story. One tip after another emerged. Weiner stood, head held high, before the cameras for all to see and admitted that there had been no hacker, he had been lying and he was indeed Twitter accounts @WashingtonMonument8, and @UncleTonyTheBaloneyPony. The once cocksure Congressman had been exposed as just another inside-the-beltway dick.

Nancy Pelosi called for an immediate investigation by the congressional ethics commission to see if any rules had been broken. “There’s no problem with the lying,” said Pelosi. “But, sending photos of your private parts to young women, who are not congressional pages, is a little out of line.”

In spite of the embarrassing revelations, Weiner refused to pull out.
