There have been several reports over Twitter that Mubarak’s police have arrested “Sandmonkey,” a prominent Egyptian blogger and critic of the regime. Just yesterday, he spoke to Pajamas Media TV about evading police officials who were apparently looking for him. (Later, Sandmonkey wrote on Twitter: I am ok. I got out. I was ambushed & beaten by the police, my phone confiscated , my car ripped apart & supplies taken.
We take our security and stability here in Hawaii for granted. Our political fights seem so petty compared to the real thing… compared to what this guy is up against over there. He’s actually fighting for his basic freedom!
All Atomic Monkey has to deal with here in Hawaii is a few self-serving critics from traditional media, a gas-bag blogger or two, anonymous snarking from the online peanut gallery, an occasional devious political operative and a couple of flighty public relations idiots.
